A year and a half?! Really?!
I had no idea it had been so long since I have updated this blog regarding my art and it's progression. It has been a bit of a turmoilous 18 months but things are beginning to look up. I have fallen back into an old love of exploring alternative photography printing techniques. Especially photo transfers aso involving hand coloring and finding creative ways to display the finished image. As many know I love to learn new things and to create anything. So it is no surprise that I have been working on what I've decided to identify as mixed media pieces that I create myself from beginning to end. I will admit that the lovely lumber guys at Home Depot are helpful in making sure I get straight cuts on my wood panels, as I cant seem to cut a straight line to save my life!
From there I do the sanding, staining and mounting on my own. All in all it takes several days to make a piece. Luckily I tend to manage many within each round!
I've also decided to translate this process to making bookmarks, in the hopes also that I may add to the campaign to bring analog reading back into popularity! (I love my kindle but I love the feel of a book more.)
Oh! I almost forgot the most fun part! I have been adding a wonderful metal element which I am hand stamping with the images 'title' or name. I am in love with the look and added dimension it brings.
Which brings me to the fact that you will be able to find me at local and not so local craft and art fairs this fall and winter. There is even an entire page here on the website dedicated to sharing with you all where I will be and when! As always I am happy to entertain custom order requests. Just message me and let me know what your thoughts are. I'm sure we can come up with something!
